Raymond E. Brown, Auburn Distinguished Professor of Biblical Studies at Union Theological Seminary (NYC), is recognized throughout the world as one of the foremost commentators on John in our generation. This present work brings his career to full cycle. The first short book he wrote on John was in 1960, a commentary that has been reedited  several times. After that Brown has produced two very exhaustive commentaries, one on the Gospel and the otheron the Epistles of John. Both the works received wide acclaim for the sweep of their scholarship and the intelligibility of their conclusions. In this short book Brown has summarized his reflections on these two great New Testament works in the same scope and format that he used in his first work thirty years earlier. Nowhere else will one find so concise a summary of Brown’s understanding of the Johannine writings.
