All of us are called to be happy, in fact to enjoy life. “Rejoice in the Lord always; again I Will say, Rejoice” (Phil 4:4). Yet many of us live unhappy lives hurting ourselves and others. The reason for this is that we have been hurt as children and later. In fact all mischief or unhealthy behaviour by young or old is a frantic attempt to get some relief from this hurt by getting some attention or love. Thus some take to shouting, some to withdrawal, some to drinks, some to drugs. Some others take to religiosity devoid of true spirituality as the Pharisees did. Still others go after a life of comfort and prestige. Living by the core teachings of Christ is the only sure means to grow in genuine love. For these core teachings are the laws of God. Hence these teachings are the common heritage of all religions. These teachings are also the laws of human nature and therefore of spiritual, emotional and physical health. So we have the choice: to live by these laws and be happy or ignore these laws and, be unhappy. Moses Warns the Israelites and all mankind, “I have set before you life and death, blessing and curse” (Deut 30/19). This book is an invitation to learn to enjoy life.
